Before the new update, playing music from an outside app like Spotify or iTunes has caused Snapchat to pause during video capture, which meant the only way to add music was from outside audio sources like speakers (which is often distorted).

Starting today, however, you'll be able to queue up your favorite song and hop into Snapchat without any issues. The method does require some sense of timing, though, as Snapchat will record whatever is currently playing on your phone when you tap the record button.

Snapchat is easy to learn and use, as long as you have someone around to show you the ropes.
You can take a photo or a video, then add a caption or a doodle, and send it to a friend (or add it to your story to broadcast with select friends). Your friends will be able to view your snap for up to 10 seconds, but then it'll disappear forever. They'll also only have access to your stories for 24 hours.
While this is all basic knowledge to the average Snapchatter, you'd be surprised to learn there are many ways to spice up your snaps and stories and overall Snapchat experience. We'll admit it: Snapchat isn't the most user friendly, because it has a tonne of buried features that you have to hunt down.

Sometimes you have to download additional apps in order to truly take advantage of what this fun messaging app has to offer. If you'd like to learn all about Snapchat's untapped potential, we've laid out a few tips and tricks.

• Baby - Your Snapchat score hit 10!
• Star - Your Snapchat score hit 100!
• 3 Stars - Your Snapchat score hit 1,000!
• Shooting Star - Your Snapchat score hit 10,000!
• Explosion - Your Snapchat score hit 50,000!
• Rocket Ship - Your Snapchat score hit 100,000!
• Ghost - Hey Snapperstar! Your Snapchat score hit 500,000!

2. Temperature Trophies Sun - Send a Snap with the temperature filter above 100F.
    SnowFlake - Send a Snap with the temperature filter below freezing.

3. Ogre/Devil Face - Send 1000 Snaps using the front facing camera

4. Filter Trophies (Multiple Levels)

• Finger - Send a Snap with one filter applied.
• Fingers - Send a Snap with two filters applied

5. Video Trophies (Multiple Levels)

• VCR Tape - Send a video Snap
• Old School Camera - Send 50 video Snaps
• Camcorder - Send 500 video Snaps

• Repeat - Flip the camera once in one video Snap
• Shuffle Sign - Flip the camera 5 times in one video Snap
